Concerts

I've been to a few live concerts in my life. Three to be exact. One, Linkin Park concert in KL years ago. Two, Incubus concert also years ago. Then latest one was last week, Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival in Kota Kinabalu. Each one was awesome in so many ways. Here I have the tickets....I lost the Incubus ticket......so sad coz they are my fav band forever.

Lesson Learned

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.
While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.
As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out!
He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.
Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.

(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's smart to keep your mouth shut!

I have a story to tell

This is the story,

ride

This is not my story. Its just some junk I found in my old hdd. Smile if you think its funny. Kudos to Roni Hori.

Awesome External HDD Cover

I went to Wisma Karamunsing yesterday to get me a 320GB portable notebook hdd which I've been eying to get, to be used as an external storage.
Basically my plan is to buy that and a hdd player casing, which is a hdd casing which also serve as a player. This means you can plug in a notebook hdd to a tv set and watch movies contained in the hdd.
But my plan totally changed when I reached there once I set my eyes on a 500GB hdd, which is RM325. So I decided to but the 500GB instead and buy a normal casing. So I bought this awesome casing from the shop next door (next door to the one I bought the 500GB hdd). Turns out this casing is not compatible with a 500GB hdd. Too much for this guy.
Since I bought the hdd casing before I buy the hdd and I cannot prove that this casing is not working, I have to keep it.
So I buy another casing from the same shop I bought the 500GB hdd. Turns out that the external cover of the hdd casing from the shop next door fits the one I bought on this shop. But its not the same the other way around. The casing from this shop doesn't fit the one from the shop next door. It will fit with some modification of course but the point is this. This external hdd cover is awesome.
Somebody should open up a business to just design hdd cover. Nuff said. See the external hdd casing below.

Trip To Mount Kinabalu (Masilau Trail)

So we went to Mount Kinabalu yesterday, my family, cousins, and auntie. Its sort of like a family yearly activity for us. This is personally my third time hiking Mount Kinabalu but the first time of using the Mesilau Trail(8km to Laban Rata). People usually prefer using the Timpohon Trail(6.5KM) because the route is much more shorter.
Our plan was to go and stay in Kundasang a day earlier, go up to Gunting Lagadan Hut the next day, and then climb top of the mountain the next day, and the same day go down and go home.
Before this, one have to pay many fees like Climbing Permits, Mountain Guides Fee, etc etc. Since it has been privatized, you only have to pay RM370, or USD100 for everything. This exclude RM3 (local) or RM15 (foreigner) for entrance fee to the park and Porter Fee (RM9 per Kilogram).

Here, Dad's packing for the trip:

We meet up with the rest of the team in Tamparuli:

A shot I took from the place we were staying called Villa Homestay (I think):

Nice flower I got to shot:

Here Dad and Uncle is performing the famous culture thing of Sabahan called Moginum, joined by Reid, an Aussie they just met. The guy in the background is the homestay owner.

The very next day, we went straight to Kinabalu Park HQ to take our transport to Mesilau Nature Resort. Its about 10 Minutes away. This sign said 'Selamat Datang Ke Kampung Mesilau', or 'Welcome To Mesilau Village'. Mesilau means Yellow in Dusun.

The team after 10 minutes of walking:
masilau1 027

A friendly squirrel on one of the hut. Feed them some bread.
masilau1 030

A Yellowish stream on the way. Now thats why this place is called Mesilau.
masilau1 031

Along the way, you would encounter some easy path.
masilau1 028

Medium hard path.
masilau1 035

Hard path
masilau1 036

And Even Harder Path.
masilau1 042

Some Nepenthes I saw on the way:
masilau1 038

One of the most breathtaking view I have ever seen. I've seen this place before in my dream.
masilau1 040

Then we reach Laban Rata. The place was literally packed. This place provide buffet dinner included in the RM370 Mount Kinabalu Hike Package.
masilau1 048

Long story short, we didn't manage to reach the top this time because of the strong wind and rain. According to our mountain guide, no one reach the top on the day. Honestly for me, I'd think twice of going up because of three reasons. One, the weather and two, I'm too exhausted and three, my right hamstring hurt like hell. But never mind, there will always be another attempt. Maybe this year with some friends.

On the way down. Behind is Laban rata:
masilau1 055

Going Down (cannot wait to reach home)
masilau1 059

One sight on our way down. Some 40 something lady porter carrying some load up. The load must weight about 15KG.
masilau1 063

The last team finally reach Timpohon Gate and we were on our way back.
